Research Areas and Activities


Nanyang CEM works closely with a global network of leading scholars, business schools, and corporate leaders that offer the best expertise and access to emerging market issues and information. ​Our goal is to pursue cross-emerging market comparative studies on pressing issues that would have a high impact on corporate management and policy-making in emerging markets, with a key focus on 10 core research themes. While CEM's priorities are on ASEAN, China and India, our research covers all emerging markets divided into the following five regions; Southeast Asia and India, Africa and the Middle East, China, Eastern Europe and CIS, and Latin America.

In addiiton, CEM identifies new research themes through CEO Roundtables and interactions with other external stakeholders. ​Our research and activities target multiple stakeholders with an interest in advancing the knowledge for sustained growth in emerging markets. Besides rigorous and multi-disciplinary research across emerging markets, CEM organises seminars, roundtables, annual forums and training programmes to broadly disseminate its research outputs to a non-academic audience.
