Banking & Finance

The Division of Banking & Finance is one of the top finance departments in the Asia-Pacific region in both research and teaching. We have more than 15 active research faculty members, who have published more than 60 papers in top finance journals. We offer excellent research support and have a seminar series, featuring finance professors from top business schools around the world.

The division offers programmes at the undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels. In addition to the main Banking and Finance track, we also have Platform-Based Learning (PBL), International Trading Programme (ITP) and Applied Wealth Management (AWM) as niche Banking and Finance tracks for students to choose from. The programme is recognised as a CFA Program Partner and a CAIA Academic Partner. The division also offers two other undergraduate programmes in Actuarial Science (ACS) and Risk Management & Insurance (RMI), which admit students with high analytical and numerical abilities. The ACS is the only programme in Singapore accredited by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), UK. The curriculum of the RMI programme has been designed to strike a good balance between insurance, risk management theory and methods, and their practical applications.

The Division of Banking and Finance also offers graduate programmes, including the PhD, the Master of Science in Finance, and the Master of Science in Financial Engineering (MFE). The MSc (Finance) programme is conducted in both English and Chinese and has an option to allow the students to get two Masters degrees (one from NTU and another from Peking University). This programme is aimed at early- and mid-career executives who want to stand out and thrive in the rapidly growing and competitive finance sector in Asia. The MFE programme is offered in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University, and is highly rigorous and prepares students for challenging jobs in areas such as risk management, structured products, quantitative asset management, quantitative trading, and quantitative research.
