  • Programme Structure and Curriculum

    The programme contains three main modules, and each module consists of four days of learning and instruction. Upon completion of all three modules, you will receive the Executive Certificate in Hospitality Management.
    1. Leading with Financial Acumen in Hospitality
      It is increasingly important for non-financial professionals to be able to interpret and analyze the myriad of financial information to contribute effectively to their organizations. It aims to provide hospitality professionals a conceptual toolkit to harness critical financial information for tactical planning and strategic business decisions within hospitality organizations.

      Participants will learn to assess financial statements, determine the nature of costs and their influences on pricing and strategic business decisions, apply different budgetary control techniques, as well as analyze profitability and financial performance of different market segments within the hospitality industry. Learning is achieved via hands-on practical exercises and case studies to reinforce technical knowledge and concepts.
    2. Building Data Analytics for Optimal Performance in Hospitality
      Besides learning to analyse various types of hotel industry data and make strategic inferences based on that analysis, you will also gain a comprehensive understanding of benchmarking and performance reports in this module.

      With this knowledge, you will be able to make informed business and executive decisions that will substantially impact revenue optimization for your organisation, as well as understand the importance of revenue management as a core strategy.

      At the end of the programme, you will receive a Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA), for industry professionals through a joint effort between STR, AHLEI and ICHRIE.
    3. Developing Strategic Leadership in Hospitality
      In the first module, you will explore strategy fundamentals including competitive advantage, capabilities and resources and industry structure, and get an outward view of industry forces, economy-wide mega trends, understanding consumer behaviour and business expectations. 

      This module includes an Immersion Programme, where participants will personally experience how customer experience is designed and delivered, and eventually apply it as a strategy in their own organizations.

      ​Participants will return to their organizations with critical competencies, skills and drivers to becoming an effective and strategic leader in the Hospitality Industry.​

    SkillsFuture Credit Singapore Citizens, aged 25 and above, and self-sponsored, may use their SkillsFuture Credit to defray part of the net course fee.     Course Fee: S$9,900 (excluding GST)

    Course fees cover all study materials, classes, tutor supervision, assignments and examinations. This does not include optional textbooks and other additional items specified by the university from time to time. Course fees do not include expenses for the two-day Immersion Experience at Club Med Bintan. 

    SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) funding applies for this programme.

    In addition, self-sponsored Singapore citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credit of S$500 to further reduce the course fees.

  • Certification​​

    Upon completing all three modules, meeting at least 75% class attendance and completing a small project, participants will receive an Executive Certificate in Hospitality Management issued by Nanyang Business School, NTU Singapore.

    Participants are also required to pass a written test to receive a Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA), for industry professionals through a joint effort between STR, AHLEI and ICHRIE.


    Assoc Prof Tan Joo Seng
    Division of Strategy, Management and Organisation

    Dr Tan Joo Seng is an Associate Professor of Management as well as the Academic Director of EMBA and Executive Education programmes at Nanyang Business School. He has been actively involved in executive leadership and management training and development since 1995. His expertise on global leadership, cultural intelligence, cross-cultural negotiation, business model innovation, and more recently on leadership in Age of Disruption, is sought after by Fortune 500 companies.

    He is consulted for both public sector and private sector organizations, including leading MNCs as well as small and medium enterprises in diverse industries. Some of the organizations that he has provided consulting and training include Alstom, Ascott, CIMB, Du Pont, IBM, Keppel, Land Transport Authority, Ministry of Defence, Monetary Authority of Singapore, National Healthcare Group, Singapore Airlines, Singapore Airlines Engineering Company, etc.

    His book, “CQ: Developing Cultural Intelligence at Work” (co-authored with Professors Earley & Ang and published by Stanford University Press in 2006), is the first book to apply cultural intelligence in the context of leadership training and development.
