Course Description

Strategy Projects at Nanyang or SPAN is a three trimester-long, capstone module of The Nanyang MBAprogramme. An educational collaboration between partner organisations and the Nanyang Business School,participants are encouraged to apply the latest business thinking and insights from their Nanyang MBAmodules to address the opportunities and challenges of their industry sponsor. With guidance from courseinstructors, partner sponsors and faculty supervisors, diverse teams of participants are expected to speakwith relevant industry respondents, perform a detailed analysis of the collected data and information, andarrive at realistic recommendations in the final presentation. To complement other modules on the MBAprogramme, a series of seminars introducing best practices in team development, business communication,and strategy consulting will be conducted to prepare participants to effectively engage with sponsors, and to,ultimately, succeed in the strategy projects.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the SPAN module, MBA participants should be able to:

  • Understand how to plan, organise for, and deliver on strategy projects for industry organisations

  • Appreciate the science of team effectiveness

  • Comprehend the roles played by effective leaders and members in a team context

  • Apply the knowledge of team building, team review, and team closure in the context of SPAN

  • Be familiar with a framework for making strategic communication choices

  • Structure analysis and recommendations in a consulting deliverable

  • ​Give a compelling consulting deliverable presentation
