Do you admit students who do not have a degree in finance?
This program is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in the finance sector and for professionals already working in the industry. Students without a degree in finance are welcome to apply.
Would applicants without finance background find this programme especially challenging?
Students without finance background are warmly welcomed. The programme is also suitable for students without prior financial training to progressively grasp and apply finance concepts, theories and skills. Successful applicants should be able to complete the programme with a positive attitude and conscientious study.
What are the admission criteria?
Academic qualifications are not the only criteria. NTU considers talented students from any educational background. Other criteria include work experience, leadership quality and potential in the finance industry.
Is GMAT/GRE a prerequisite?
Yes, either GMAT or GRE is a prerequisite.
Please note that there is no minimum score requirements for GMAT or GRE.
Can I apply before I have taken GMAT/GRE?
Yes, you may. However, you should take the test before the closing deadline which is 1 May 2020. You should also indicate in the application form your GMAT/GRE test date so that we know when to expect your score report. Please upload your unofficial scores as soon as you receive them and update the programme office via email.
Do I need to take IELTS or TOEFL?
IELTS or TOEFL is required if the medium of instruction during your undergraduate studies was not in English.
Is work experience a prerequisite?
Although work experience is preferred, it is not a mandatory requirement.
Final-year undergraduates are welcome to apply with a university academic record and certification (certifying the date of graduation and the type of degree to be awarded).
Will all applicants be interviewed?
Only those who are successfully shortlisted will be invited for an interview.
Where will the interview be held? What language will the interview be conducted in?
Interviews are usually conducted in Singapore, Beijing and Shanghai.
Applicants living in Singapore will be interviewed at NTU. Interview will be conducted in English and Chinese. Applicants who are unable to attend the interview can also apply for a skype interview.
Can successful applicants defer study to the next intake?
Generally, we do not allow successful applicants to defer their study. Therefore, applicants are strongly encouraged to consider carefully before applying.
If there are extenuating circumstances, applicants may request a deferment with the Admissions Office. This should be supplemented with supporting documents.
Will applicants be informed of the reasons of rejection?
Due to the large number of applications we receive for each intake, we might not be able to offer explanations for unsuccessful applications.

Students are required to obtain 36 academic units at Nanyang Business School. Those who successfully complete all the course requirements will be awarded the Master of Science in Finance degree by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Does NTU provide accommodation for students?

Can students work part-time during their studies?
Students may make use of Nanyang Technological University’s Career Service System to look for part-time work. They must obey the rules and regulations set by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore.
