As Darwin surmised, those who survive 'are not the strongest or the most intelligent, but the most adaptable to change.' 'Business as usual' is no longer an option. What have we learned in this crisis? How will you lead your organisation and employees into the post COVID-19 world?
While the pandemic has brought great challenges, it also presents us rare opportunities for reflection and planning for the future. Every crisis hides an opportunity. In times of crisis, it is even more imperative for leaders to stand strong and stay calm while leading the team to move against the current and grow amidst challenges.
On 8 July 2020, Nanyang Business School Associate Professor Nigel Phang and guest speakers – Mr Tan Song Kok, Henry, Group CEO and Chief Innovation Officer, Nexia TS; Ms Xu Lixia, General Manager (Investment Management), Shanghai Waigaogiao Free Trade Zone Xin Development Co Limited; and Ms Wong Kai Jun, Founder and Managing Director, Play Nation Pte Ltd – shared their insights on “Leadership in Times of Crisis” with our Nanyang EMBA participants and alumni.
Jointly organised by NBS Alumni Office and NBS China Programmes Office, the webinar focussed on three key questions:
• What are the key lessons learnt thus far in leading people through this crisis?
• What opportunities do you see in this crisis that could help your company to turnaround or grow?
• How would you enhance your organisational resilience to manage the next crisis?
The webinar generated in-depth discussions, with insightful sharing from Associate Professor Phang and the speakers, as well as active participation from the Nanyang EMBA participants and alumni.
